Kristen & Justin's engagement

Kristen and Justin really wanted to do something different for their engagement session. When Kristen called and asked what I thought about them going ice skating, I was psyched! We started out in down town Providence Rhode Island, and slowly made our way over to the ice skating rink. It was a really fun session, Kristen and Justin have great chemistry! Sunaina & Arun Engagement Ceremony-Intercontinental Hotel Boston MA

Sunaina and Arun's engagement ceremony was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts. This was my very first Indian cermony and let me tell you, it was awesome! The ceremony was so cool, there were so many parts and exchanges, and colors. In college I was known as the "Color Queen" so you can imagine how excited I was to be surrounded with such vibrant beautiful colors. The food was absolutely delicious, I made my boyfriend take me out for Indian cuisine when I got home because I was craving more!!!! Thank you Sunaina and Arun for allowing me to take part in your beautiful engagement ceremony.

Jonelle, MIke & Baby Michaela

I met Jonelle and Mike a few years back when I photographed Jonelle's mother's wedding. They are an awesome familly, I am always happy to hear from them. So a few weeks back Jonelle contacted me and we set up a maternity portrait session. These sessions are so fun I wish I got to do more of them. Congratulations on your bundle of Joy!

Sandra & Carl's Intimate Wedding -Castle HIll Newport RI

Sandra and Carl were married this past weekend on 11/18/07. They had a cozy little ceremony with just the two of them present. Their story is such a touching love story. They actually went to grammar school together. Carl always had a crush on Sandra and he actually asked her out on a date when they were teenagers. However Sandra had a boyfriend and turned Carl down. Now 50 years later they are were reunited and instantly fell in love. (Now that's what I call playing hard to get), Carl said she was well worth the wait! You should see these two. They are like two giddy little teenagers in love. They have great chemistry and they laugh and kiss constantly. It was my pleasure photographing their wedding. Congratulations Carl & Sandra!

Jennifer & Shawn

Jen & Shawn were married 11/10/07. They are both huge redsox fans. Shawn actually proposed to Jen outside of Fenway so needless to say the wedding itself was dressed in Red Sox cheer. One of the coolest things were their place cards. They were made to look like Sox tickets! The DJs made sure to play some of the Sox favorites including Tessie and Sweet Caroline. They played this one particular song, and invited Shawn up on the dance floor to show the guests how to do the Papelbon. It was an awesome wedding, alot of fun, and alot of Sox fans! Congratulations Jen & Shawn and thanks for inviting me to capture these unforgetable moments for you.

Michelle & Keith

Michelle & Keith were married on 10/27/07. The forecast called for rain!!! It did drizzle a bit but cleared up in time for us to take some shots outside. I have the best luck when it comes to rain! Anyhow it was a very nice wedding and a great group of people. Congratulations Michelle and Keith and thanks for allowing me to photograph your big day.

Baby Emily

I photographed Emily's parents wedding last year. She is there little clone. I haven't quite decided who she looks like most, but I'm leaning toward Daddy. She is just the cutest little peanut! Meet Luke David.

You may remember Luke from his 1 month session earlier in the year. He is 8 months now and he is just soooo cute and he has the best little personality! When I arrived at the session, Luke was sleeping. I'd fully expected him to be cranky when he woke up, but he was instantly smiling and laughing. This kid is so cute you just want to squeeze him (and I did)! Luke's mom put together a nice little fall-ish setup for pictures and also a great lil Halloween setup. Congratulations Nikki & Eric

Where do I begin? Nikki's family and my family have been friends for years. I actually used to babysit Nikki and her brother Gilly when we were younger! It was really awesome to reconnect with Nikki after all of these years and grow closer with her through the whole wedding planning process.

Eric is the best friend of Gilly who is NIkki's brother and also the best man. When Nikki booked me over a year ago, Eric and Gilly were in Iraq together. I can't even imagine how hard that must have been on her and her family. When Eric came home from Iraq they set up an engagement session . During their e-session I really got a feeling for the tremendous connection shared between Nikki and Eric. He adores her so much. It is so easy to photograph these two together because they do everything you want them to with out even asking. His actions are so romantic! Eric just can't stop kissing Nikki, I don't blame him because she is just so adorable!

Their wedding day was so beautiful! One of my favorite parts was the toasts by Gilly, (the Best Man) and his fiance Lindsey, (the Maid of Honor). I had to wipe the tears away from behind my camera! Gilly spoke of how he couldn't have picked a better husband for his sister and of how great a friend Eric has been to him. It was a really heartfelt toast.

Eric is a firefighter and his buddies from work surprised him by bringing one of the engines to the church. It was waiting outside when Nikki and Eric walked down the aisle! It was so cool!

Nikki was stunning, Eric was hillarious, Kiara was adorable! Thank you guys for allowing me to play such an important role in the day that marks the beginning of your lives together! Congrats!

Nancy & Derek

Nancy and Derek were married on October 19th at the Hawthorne Country Club in North Dartmouth Massachusetts. The day started out rainy but it cleared up a little bit just in time for us to take a few shots outside. Nancy and Derek were really good sports. They didn't even care about the rain! Later on in the night, it got really bad out. The florists' temporary arbor pretty much blew away! I love the shot of Nancy and her wedding party trying to hold on to it before it is taken away with the wind. A bit later in the evening Nancy and her girls all changed into velour warmup suits. It was cute, they all said Bridesmaid on the back! Of course Nancy's didn't, hers read Bride! Thanks for letting me capture these unforgetable moments in time for you! Congrats!

The Boyle Family

I had the privilege of meeting and photographing the Boyle family this past Friday. Mary and Scott have 2 children, Sarah and Aiden. Sarah is an adorable 3 year old who knows what she wants! She is very polite and when she doesn't want to do something she lets you know, but not without "Please and No Thank You" She was a little ball of polite energy. Aiden is the little guy and he is sooooo good! He was so mello. What a happy baby he is and his eyes are amazing. This family session was alot of fun. Congratulations Jennifer & David

Jen and Dave were married last weekend on September 29th. Their reception was held at the Hawthorne Country Club in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

They had an amazingly beautiful warm sunny day. Who would have thought the last weekend in September would be in the 80's? They were so laid back and easy going it was a pleasure to photograph them especially on the dance floor! Jen had some great dance moves! Congratulations on your wedding!

Congratulations Kerri & Jared

Kerri looked so beautiful, she had such a unique dress, I just loved, loved, loved her dress as well as all of the details that she put into this wedding! All of the tables at the wedding were named with a love song instead of a number. I thought that was really cool. She had an awesome pink and black theme at the wedding. Her cake was an amazing cake made by Konditor Meister. They make the most beautiful and delicious cakes that I have ever seen or tasted. One of the most unique details at the wedding was the candy bar. Every place setting was set with a pink or black take out box which was to be used to collect your candy to take home from the bar. It was so cool. All of the candy on the candy buffet was pink or black. Kerri and Jared had a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding. Congratulations!

Dionne & Jason

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love these two! Their wedding was sooooo much fun! I photographed Dionne's sister Tara's wedding last year so I was prepared for a lively bunch but OMG this wedding rocked! First of all Dionne and Jason decided to take their pictures together before the ceremony so that they could enjoy their cocktail hour with their guests. I love when couples do this! I especially love the look on the Groom's face the second his eyes fixate on his Bride! They didn't have a wedding party so we had 2 hours to do family shots and the B&G shots. I finished an hour early and let Jason get back to his buds, and Dionne, Tara and I strolled around the grounds taking a few more shots. Tara was a huge help, love ya Tara ;)

Dionne and Jason's reception was at The Regatta Place in Newport RI and their ceremony was right on the pier beside the reception. They hired an unbelievable band based out of Newport called Those Guys. The band packed the dance floor all night long, there were no chicken dances here my friends.

It was a flawless day, an amazingly beautiful couple, perfect weather, fabulous band, terric food and all around a rocking wedding. Congratulations Dionne and Jason and thank you both so much for making my job an absolute pleasure!

Jane & Kevin Family

Yesterday I had the privilege of photographing an old high school friend Jane and her lovely family. The two little ones were off the wall, no shyness there! These kids were so full of energy, it was refreshing hanging out with them. They have some great little personalities! We did this photo shoot right out back of my new studio and finished up across the street from the studo where there is a small duck and goose pond. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to hang around with such a cool family!

I met Marcey at her Maid of Honor, Jen's wedding last November. Jen and Billy had a ceremony in the United States for family and friends and then they went to Aruba and had a beach ceremony there. They brought their closest family and friends with them. Well Marcey and Tiago went to Aruba with them and actually got engaged while they were out there. It is such a sweet story and these two are soooooo in love! I had a blast at their wedding, it was a really fun wedding party! Congratulations!

Amy and Brendon got married on 9/8/07. They are a really great couple. I met up with the guys while the ladies were at the salon and got some great shots of them. Then I headed over to the bride's room for the bride preparation. Amy was a little shy at first but it wasn't long before she was working the camera. Their wedding was alot of fun to photograph! Beth & Keith are married!!!

You may remember Beth and Keith from their steamy hot engagement session a few months back. They got married 9/2/07 at the Stonehurst Manor in North Conway New Hampshire. It was a really unique wedding. The guests arrived on Friday and partied all weekend! The ceremony was on Sunday in the garden out in front of the manor which overlooked the White Mountains. Their dog Dora was the ring bearer and she was so good all day however she did make her presence known! As Beth and Keith shared their first kiss as husband and wife, the guests stood up and clapped and Dora stood up and barked. It was so cute! After the ceremony the staff breaks down the chairs and puts out these huge chess pieces. It was so magical, we had to take advantage of it.

I have to say, Beth and Keith's first dance was probably one of the best I have seen yet. They shared a traditional slow dance and then when we thought it was over they broke out into a swing dance. It was so awesome. I must have 100 shots of that dance alone.

I have been friends with Beth and Keith since high school and it was so great to be part of their big day. I got to see so many people that I haven't seen in over 10 years. I am so happy that you guys FINALLY tied the knot and that I was able to capture this day for you. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Congratulations Sandra & Derek

Sandy and Derek tied the knot on 9/1/07 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Fall River. This church is over 150 years old and is absolutely beautiful. We were scheduled to go to another location for formals but when I saw this church I was blown away by it's beauty, so we decided to stay there for pictures. I drive by this church all the time but never stopped to admire it before. It's funny how sometimes things that we see everyday just blend into the background. Anyways there was this group of kids at the wedding who were ripping up the dance floor. My second shooter Armando and I had a blast chasing them around.

FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

As many of you already know, I have recently moved my studio to the Narrows Center for the Arts located on 16 Anawan St. in Fall River Massachusetts. This Sunday, September 9th the Narrows will be hosting their annual fesival of the arts. It is a free event, and it runs from 11:00 -7:00. There will be 33 artists booths out on the street, all of the resident artists (myself included) will have their studios open to the public. There are 2 stages, 1 inside and the other outside, music all day long! There is a giant interactive children's area with musical performers, treasure hunt, art projects, Big Nazo Puppets and a children's Mardi Gras Parade with the Nazo Puppets in the evening. Meet the Nasiffs

I photographed the Nasiff Family last week at Horseneck Beach in Westport Ma. The kids were a little shy in the beginning but it wasn't long before they were hamming it up for the camera! They had a blast playing in the sand and climbing the dunes! One of my favorite things to do at a family session is to photograph the kids playing without them knowing it. That is who they really are at this moment in time and I believe that capturing the interaction between the kids is way more valuable than the typical "say cheese" pictures. Or maybe I just get a kick out of little kids, either way I like to have fun and I like them to have fun! And they did!

Stacie & Nathan

Meet Stacie & Nathan. They are a wonderful couple with great chemistry. I love engagement sessions because they give me a chance to get to know the couple and also to observe how each couple interacts with each other. Stacie and Nathan have alot of fun together and are soooooo in love. It was a absolute pleasure photographing the two of you and I can't wait to shoot your wedding next year! Congratulations Heather & Bill

Heather and Bill tied the knot on 8/11/07. They had a nice little backyard ceremony followed by reception and dancing in the carriage house which is over 100 years old. I have known Heather for over 10 years, and I am so happy that I was able to share in her special day. Bill is a great guy and they make an awesome couple. Thanks guys, and congrats!

Congratulations Janaia & Kevin

When I blog about my weddings, I like to talk about the details and circumstances that make each wedding unique, so let me tell you a little about Janaia and Kevin. Janaia and Kevin met in church. One Sunday morning Kevin was on his way to church and for whatever reason, (fate) he was running late. So instead of being late for the mass at his church, he stopped in to the nearby church. He usually sits in the back row of pews at his church but when he walked in to the church he noticed a beautiful young lady already sitting in the last pew. That young lady was Janaia, and the rest is history. I love their story and I love the way that Kevin looks at Janaia, he just adores her.

Catherine and Mike got married on July 28th, 2007. Their entire wedding party was super friendly and outgoing. We had tons of fun taking pictures. Catherine's Maid of Honor Alison was so awesome, she was like my personal assistant during Catherine and Mike's photo shoot.Thanks for that Alison!

Congratulations Karen & Steve

Karen and Steve finally tied the knot on 7/20/07 after 8 years of dating. WOW! They had a very cozy little backyard ceremony with only their closest family and friends present. It was an amazing backyard which made my job that much easier!! They also have the tiniest little yorkie named Otto that I have ever seen. He was just cute as a button and ofcourse he had to be in some of the family shots. Congratulations Karen and Steve!

I MOVED!!!

There are lots of changes going on with Leatherwood Photography. I just launched my new site today, there were a couple of bugs with the slideshows on the blog but I think they have all been worked out since. The new site is very easy to navigate and it allows you to choose between 3 songs or you can mute them. Also some other very exciting news is that I will be relocating my office and studio to the The Narrows Center For The Arts located on 16 Anawan St. in Fall River Ma. I am hoping to be finished with the move by next week.

Heather & Seth's Engagement Session

Heather and I have known each other for almost 20 years and she has always been one of my closest friends. Seth is an awesome guy and he makes Heather just so happy and we love him for that! They met in Newport RI so we thought it would be nice to do their engagement portraits in Newport. We had a great time shooting and then we had some friends meet us in Newport for some cocktails! Heather and Seth will be getting married this upcoming New Years Eve at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Warwick RI and it is going to be quite the celebration.

I can hardly wait for your wedding!!! Love you guys!

Beth & Keith Engagement Session

Oh boy, did I have a great time shooting this e-session. I photographed Beth and Keith down on the waterfront area of Battleship Cove, but instead of staying in the park and on the water front, we worked our way through the mills. It was awesome! There were so many great places to shoot. Everywhere I Iooked there were interesting textures and scenes. They were alot of fun and were up for anything! Congratulations Beth & Keith. You guys rock!!!

Nicky & Eric's Engagement

Nicky and Eric chose to have their engagement photos done at Heritage State Park and Battleship Cove in Fall River Ma. They brought along their daughter Kiara who is just the cutest little thing. She was my little assistant following me around and directing her mom and dad to kiss. It was really cute. They are getting married in October and are having 350 guests! I can't wait for their wedding they are alot of fun. See you in October.

Stacy & Tim tied the knot on 7/7/07. They say 7 is a lucky number. If that's true then Stacy and Tim had one lucky day! To be honest though, this couple doesn't need luck because they are in love! You guys were great! Thanks for letting me be part of your lucky day!!

This past Tuesday, I had the privelage of photographing Jen & Steve's wedding in Bedford, New Hampshire. I drove up on Monday and spent the night at a friend's house. We spent the whole day on Monday sightseeing and it was such a great time. Jen and Steve are the best!!! Steve is so crazy and is so much fun. We had such a blast, I didn't even feel like I was working. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding! Congratulations Jen & Steve!!!

Christina and Fil are a really sweet couple who interact really great together. They got married this past weekend at St. Anthony's Church in Taunton Ma. and they had their reception at Independance Harbor in Assonet Ma. It is absolutely beautiful there. Congratulations Sarah & Nate!

Last weekend I photographed my friend Sarah's wedding. It was in my home town of Fall River Massachusetts at The Great Hall. This was the first wedding that I photographed there and it was just amazing. Sarah and Nate are an awesome couple that have been together for 8 years and actually got married on the 8 year aniversary of when they first met and fell in love. I feel so honored to have been included in such a beautiful day and to have been able to witness Sarah and Nate finally tying the knot. Congratulations Sarah and Nate!

Yestarday I played hookey from work and went to Davis Animal Farm with my boyfriend's niece and nephew. Davis Animal Farm is located in Sterling Ma and has one of the largest collections of endangered farm animals. It was a beautiful day and the kids had a blast!! Check out their slideshow.

Need to Create

Knock Knock the Horse

My boyfriend and I took a ride through the country today. We have been going to see this particular horse now for a few years and have named him Knock Knock. We obviously don't know his real name but he's real sweet, eats right out of our hands. Here's a couple of pics of our Knock Knock. The other horse we call Peetue.

This past weekend my boyfriend's neice and nephew celebrated their 3rd and 5th birthdays. They had a blast out in the yard shooting their foam rockets "into outer space" and throwing the over sized foam frisbee with Unka Jimma and Uncle Mikey.
